Figure 1: The ALICE experiment suggests that the quark-gluon plasma remains a strongly coupled liquid, even at temperatures that are greater than what was available at RHIC. The plot shows the “elliptic flow parameter” (a measure of the coupling in the plasma) at different heavy-ion collision energies, based on several experiments (including the new data from ALICE [1]). (Note the energy scale is plotted on a logarithmic scale and spans three orders of magnitude.) The trend is consistent with theoretical predictions (pink diamonds) for an ideal liquid [4].
