Figure 1: Reversing the magnetization and polarization of the BiFeO3/Co0.90Fe0.10 heterostructure by an electric field pulse. P and MC denote the polarization and the canted magnetization of the BiFeO3 film in relation to the (111) plane of the respective ferroelectric domain. M denotes the magnetization of the corresponding Co0.90Fe0.10 domain. Pnet∥, and Mnet∥, indicate the in-plane component of the net polarization and magnetization of the heterostructure when averaging across the domains. The reversal between the structures in (a) and (b) is achieved by applying the electric field pulse E as shown.
