Stable self-sustained oscillations occur when the average power Prad fed into the mechanical motion by the radiation pressure equals the power Pfric dissipated through friction. Their ratio depends on the amplitude A of mirror motion (plotted in terms of the width of the optical resonance, xFWHM), and on the detuning between laser and optical resonance, as well as the input power (fixed in this plot).
