C. Patrick Royall is Professor of Chemical Physics at the University of Bristol, UK, where he arrived in 2007 after a Ph.D. at the University of Cambridge and postdocs at the University of Utrecht, Netherlands, and the University of Tokyo. He has been awarded a Royal Society University Research Fellowship and a European Research Council Consolidator Grant. His research interests lie in soft and active matter and the glass transition. His lab specializes in particle-resolved studies from super-resolution nanoscopy of nanoparticles to collective behavior in living systems. This experimental platform is complemented by a portfolio of computational techniques, which combine trajectory sampling and novel measures of structure in amorphous materials.
