Davide Calonico is a physicist and a metrologist and presently serves as Scientific Director of the Italian National Institute for Metrology Research (INRIM). He obtained his PhD from the Polytechnic University of Turin in 2003, working on atomic fountain clocks both at the University of Turin and at France’s National Metrology Institute. His research focuses on optical clocks and on the dissemination of time and frequency standards using fiber optics, as well on quantum technologies. He chairs the working group on Advanced Time and Frequency Techniques within the Convention of the Meter.
