Frans Pretorius is a professor of physics at Princeton University. Prior positions included an assistant professorship at the University of Alberta, and the Richard Chase Tolman Postdoctoral Fellowship at Caltech. He obtained his M.Sc. from the University of Victoria, and his Ph.D. from the University of British Columbia. His main research area is general relativity. He uses numerical solution methods to study the dynamical strong-field regime of the theory, including gravitational-wave sources, gravitational collapse, singularities, and gravity in higher dimensions.
