Jay Fineberg is a professor of physics at the Racah Institute of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He is an experimental physicist whose numerous research interests include both how things break (the physics of rapid fracture) and how things slide (the fundamentals of frictional motion). He is also a fellow of the American Physical Society and serves as the Dean of Sciences at the Hebrew University. In 2014 he was recognized as an Outstanding Referee by the American Physical Society.
