John de Bruyn

John de Bruyn is a professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Western Ontario. He grew up in Vancouver, British Columbia, and received his Ph.D. from the University of British Columbia in 1987. Following a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at the University of California, Santa Barbara, John took up a faculty position at Memorial University of Newfoundland in 1989. He moved to Western in 2005. This fall he is spending two months as a visitor at Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. His research interests include rheology, polymers and soft matter, and granular materials.
