Joseph Dwyer is a professor of Physics and Space Sciences at the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, Florida. He received his Ph.D. in physics from the University of Chicago in 1994 and worked as a research scientist at Columbia University and the University of Maryland before joining the faculty at Florida Tech in 2000. After moving to Florida, Dr. Dwyer became interested in lightning physics and his research now centers on understanding the high-energy radiation produced by thunderstorms and lightning.
