Kārlis Agris Gross is a Professor in Materials Science at Riga Technical University in Latvia, leading the Biomaterials Research Group in the Faculty of Materials Science and Applied Chemistry. His background is in biomaterials, amorphous phases, and structuring, and the development of new methods to deepen scientific enquiry in those related areas. The last five years have been spent on initiating research on ice and ice-related materials. He is working on nanoindentation experiments with a focus on materials at subzero temperatures. He was recently (2017–2020) involved in an ERAF project The quest for disclosing how surface characteristics affect slideability (No.1.1.1.1/16/A/129). kgross@rtu.lv
