Martyn Hill is Professor of Electromechanical Systems at the University of Southampton, UK. He graduated in 1985 from the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research in Southampton. He stayed there, in the Mechanical Engineering Department, to work on a variety of problems relevant to biomedicine and industrial parameter estimation and measurement. His research interests include ultrasonics and topics related to signal processing. Much of his work since 1996 has focused on the application of ultrasonic waves to microfluidic systems, particularly through the use of ultrasonic radiation forces. To this end, he co-founded USWNet (Ultrasonic Standing Wave Network) in 2002.
