Matteo Ciarchi is a PhD student at the Max-Planck Institute for the Physics of Complex systems in Germany, working in the group of Steffen Rulands. His research mainly focuses on understanding the physical principles behind gene regulation and cell identity determination, relying on dynamical modeling and data analysis of sequencing experiments. He also worked on the physics of active systems in the context of flocking of active particles and studying the behavior of entropy production under coarse graining.
