Matthew Zepf is a professor at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena and a director of the Helmholtz Institute Jena, where he leads the high-power laser program comprising two multiterawatt laser systems. During his career, he has worked on high-power lasers; atomic and plasma physics, with a particular emphasis on plasmas produced using high-power lasers; and laser-driven particle accelerators. Prior to his current positions he was active in the UK, using the high-power laser facilities at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory’s Central Laser Facility and at Queen’s University Belfast.
