Nicholas A. Peters is section head and distinguished research and development staff in the Quantum Information Science Section at the Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee. After receiving a PhD in physics from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2006, and a short postdoc at the same institution, he was a senior research scientist at Telcordia Technologies, which later became Applied Communications Sciences, in the broadband optical networking department until he joined ORNL in 2015. His current research is broadly focused on making quantum communications more scalable, more practical, and more deployable.
