Riccardo Betti is the Robert L. McCrory Professor of Mechanical Engineering, and Professor of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Rochester. He is a Member of the Board of Physics and Astronomy of the US National Academy of Science, a fellow and Vice Chair of the Division of Plasma Physics of the American Physical Society, and Assistant Director for Academic Affairs of the Laboratory for Laser Energetics. He received the Edward Teller Medal from the American Nuclear Society and the E.O. Lawrence Award from the US Department of Energy. Currently the Director of the University of Rochester Fusion Science Center, his research focuses on high-temperature plasma physics with applications to nuclear fusion.
