Vivek N. Prakash is an assistant professor of physics at the University of Miami, with secondary appointments in biology and marine biology and ecology. His work combines experiments and theory to reveal the hidden physics of life in motion. He leads a marine biophysics research group that investigates ciliary dynamics, transport, and tissue mechanics in marine organisms, bringing together physics, biology, and engineering to address fundamental and applied challenges. Prakash earned his PhD in applied physics from the University of Twente in the Netherlands and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in bioengineering at Stanford University.
