Rachel Godun is a Senior Research Scientist in the Time and Frequency group at the UK's National Physical Laboratory (NPL). She gained her D.Phil. in atomic physics from the University of Oxford in 2000 and continued research there for a further eight years in the area of ultracold atoms. Since 2008 she has been working at NPL, focusing mainly on optical frequency standards. She is currently coordinating a European joint research project, funded through the European Metrology Programme for Innovation and Research (EMPIR), that aims to build “Optical clocks with  1 × 10-18 uncertainty.”
