A New Look for Physics

Physics has refreshed its look and feel with a clean, bold, and modern style. The updated design makes it easier to discover and share the latest news and commentary articles on papers from the APS journals. Like the journal websites, we’ve adopted a responsive design that adjusts the display to fit your mobile phone, tablet, or desktop computer. The new design also allows for Physics to expand in the future as new features and sections evolve.

The new homepage highlights the latest articles at the top of the page. Further down, readers can scroll through roughly two weeks of recent Viewpoint commentaries, Focus news stories, and Synopses.

The right column of the homepage now provides a simplified sign up for weekly Physics email alerts and links to recent news and opinion articles from APS News. We’ve also added a Journalist page to let members of the press know about our weekly tip sheet on forthcoming papers.

The article pages have a cleaner layout that makes the text easier to read and the figures more striking. And links to related material are prominently displayed at the bottom of every article.

Take a tour through the new design and tell us what you think. And don’t forget, Physics content is free to read: you don’t need a journal subscription to see any of the articles.

Finally, I’d like to extend a thank you to the readers who filled out our survey and the scientists who gave us personal feedback. Many of the implemented design changes reflect your input.
