Douglas Natelson is a Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Rice University. Prior to this he earned his doctorate at Stanford and was a postdoctoral member of technical staff at Bell Labs. His research group has worked on applying nanoscale techniques to a variety of condensed-matter systems, including strongly correlated materials, atomic- and molecular-scale junctions, and organic semiconductors. He blogs about condensed matter and nanoscale physics at nanoscale.blogspot.com, and recently published a textbook, Nanostructures and Nanotechnology (Cambridge, 2015).
