Ilya Sinayskiy is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Chemistry and Physics at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN). After completing his Ph.D. at Samara State University, Russia, in 2007, he worked as a postdoc at UKZN and as a researcher at the National Institute for Theoretical Physics in South Africa. He is a theoretical physicist interested in the theory of open quantum systems, with application in quantum information theory, quantum biology, and quantum and classical machine learning.

Neural Networks Take on Open Quantum Systems

Simulating a quantum system that exchanges energy with the outside world is notoriously hard, but the necessary computations might be easier with the help of neural networks. Read More »
