Joanna Zielińska is an assistant professor in experimental physics at the University of Southampton in the UK. She completed her PhD in quantum optics at the Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO) in Spain. She then held postdoctoral positions at Imperial College London, working on cold molecules, and at the Photonics Laboratory at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich, where she moved into levitated optomechanics. Her research explores the physics of optically levitated nanoparticles, with particular interests in rotational and librational dynamics and the use of levitated systems as gyroscopes.
