Kihwan Kim is a tenured associate professor at the Institute for Interdisciplinary Information Sciences of Tsinghua University in China. Since joining Tsinghua University in 2011, he has been conducting experimental research for quantum computation and quantum simulation based on trapped-ion technology. In 2004, he obtained his Ph.D. degree in physics from Seoul National University, South Korea. He started experimental research with trapped ions during his postdoctoral research carried out at Innsbruck University, Austria, with Rainer Blatt and at the University of Maryland, College Park, with Chris Monroe.
