Matthew Horton is currently a researcher for the Materials Project at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL). His Ph.D. on the study of dislocations in semiconductors for better energy-efficient LED lighting was completed at Imperial College London, where he continued to perform further work as a result of an EPSRC Doctoral Prize award. In 2016, he took up a Lindemann Fellowship at Berkeley, where he performed research on solar energy materials at LBNL before moving to his current position. His research interests center on the insights that computation and theoretical simulation can provide to speeding up the discovery of new materials and their applications.
