Miguel C. Soriano is a “Ramón y Cajal” researcher at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) in Spain. After completing his Ph.D. in 2006 at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, in Belgium, he became an associated member of the Institute for Cross-Disciplinary Physics and Complex Systems (IFISC), a joint institute of UIB and the Spanish National Research Council. His main research interests are nonlinear dynamics, information processing based on reservoir computing, and the complex dynamics of semiconductor lasers. Over the last ten years, he has also been actively organizing science outreach events and mentoring undergraduate students.
