Olena Gomonay is a theorist who works on a variety of condensed-matter topics, including antiferromagnetic spintronics, magnetoelasticity, and phase transitions. She received her Ph.D. in 1992 and her Doctoral degree in 2002 from the Kurdyumov Institute for Metal Physics in the Ukraine. She was a Professor at the Sykorski National Technical University until 2015, when she joined the INSPIRE/SPICE group at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz in Germany as a Scientific Researcher.

Viewpoint: Crystals with Defects May Be Good for Spintronics

Dislocation defects are often a nuisance in semiconductors, but theoretical work shows they might offer an improved route to producing spin currents. Read More »
