Steven D. Bass is a Visiting Professor at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland. He is a theoretical particle physicist with interests spanning the QCD spin structure of the proton, eta-prime meson physics, and the cosmological-constant puzzle. Key research appointments have been as Research Fellow of Clare Hall, Cambridge, Alexander von Humboldt Foundation Fellow in Bonn, and Lise Meitner Fellow of the Austrian Science Fund in Innsbruck. He was awarded the Bragg Gold Medal of the Australian Institute of Physics for his Ph.D., which he completed at the University of Adelaide.

Spinning Gluons in the Proton

Computer simulations indicate that about 50% of the proton’s spin comes from the spin of the gluons that bind its quark constituents. Read More »
