Thomas Speck is a Professor of Theoretical Physics at the University of Mainz, Germany. He carried out his Ph.D. at the University of Stuttgart, Germany, and completed postdoctoral work with David Chandler at the University of California, Berkeley. His research focuses on the statistical physics of disordered nonequilibrium systems, in particular, dynamically arrested liquids, sheared liquids, and active matter.

A Theory to Tackle Supercooling

Reconciling the high viscosity of “supercooled” liquids with their microstructure has stumped existing theory, but an advance in liquid-state theory may lead to a resolution. Read More »
